Blog On!

Blogging is an art. Either one likes to blog, or one doesn't. Each time the AmLit class has blogged, either in ENGL 222 or in ENGL 223, the students have reacted differently. Some have embraced the blogs with open arms, posting regularly, adding clip art pictures or personal photographs. They have created backgrounds and templates to reflect their personalities. Comments on the blogs of other students abound as they share their ideas and banter back and forth about the stories they have read, picking up on suggestions for some they may have missed. Others...uh..not so much. The templates are very basic. The titles are unimaginative. The posts? Few. Short. Basic. Some of the grumpier students resist sharing any type of ideas about the literature, the assignments, the genres, the topics presented, the authors...none of it. One student even asked me if he could write about science instead of literature! What? No connection whatsoever. He just didn't want to write about lit. or anything related to it. My point with my ramblings? This semester has been refreshing! Posts have been plentiful and pleasurable to read, for the most part! Most of them have related to something we have read, taking a tidbit and expounding on it. Titles are catchy and creative. Backgrounds and templates are unique (even those that are just one used from the choices given). Guess what? The final blog begins now, midnight on Sunday, November 4 and will continue until the due date (which I have to check on the syllabus). Keep blogging. Share your ideas. Branch into related pieces from other types of literatures. Be inspired! Blog on!
